A long time ago in a college study skills course, I learned that highlighting was not a good study strategy.
Why? Because people who highlighted as they read tended to only mark those sections that they strongly agreed
or disagreed with – often missing the author's important point(s).
It seems to me that as we meander through the wilderness called life that we pay attention to
things and ideas that we like or dislike – agree or disagree with – often missing almost everything else.
I believe much of what we pay attention to is related to the ideas we were taught as youngsters. But, I also think
it includes those claps of thunder and flashes of lightning that caught our ears and eyes during our journey.
So, Yellow Highlighting is a blog of what I have
previously highlighted in my life and what I am currently paying attention to. It is a collection of personal insights,
helpful hints in a variety of disciplines, and perhaps a smattering of utter nonsense.
Hopefully, in my trek, I am not missing the Author's important points.
